About Us
Supporting Young People Beyond Mainstream Education
At TALK THRU CIC, we provide more than an alternative to mainstream education we offer a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment where young people feel safe, understood and supported to thrive.
We work with Year 10 and 11 students experiencing emotional, behavioural or social difficulties, many of whom may feel disconnected from traditional school settings. Our relationship-based approach is built on the belief that behaviour is communication, not defiance.
Our focus on emotional wellbeing first. Through consistent mentoring, therapeutic practice and personalised support, we help students rebuild confidence, resilience and a positive connection to learning.
At TALK THRU CIC, young people are seen beyond labels. We create calm, nurturing spaces where students can re-engage with education, develop self-belief and realise their potential.
Founded by Tanya Leighton, TALK THRU CIC is built on a deep understanding of both education and mental health. With a background in education, experience as a Mental Health Nurse, and specialist work as a Children and Young People’s CBT Therapist within CAMHS, Tanya has worked closely with young people facing emotional distress, school disengagement and complex challenges.
Her passion comes from recognising that many young people are not “hard to reach” they are simply not being reached in the right way. TALK THRU CIC was created from a vision to provide a therapeutic, relationship-led space where young people feel safe, valued and able to succeed both emotionally and academically.
Through small group support, mentoring and personalised learning, we help young people:
rebuild confidence in education,
develop emotional regulation skills,
improve attendance and engagement,
achieve functional skills qualifications,
and move towards positive long-term outcomes.
Our sessions combine education, wellbeing support and therapeutic approaches to meet the individual needs of each young person.
